Forma is shipped as a Claude Code plugin from the marketplace IamForma/forma. Core is installed with one command, and your own functionality is added as a separate plugin in the same marketplace.
What you need in advance
- Node 18 or newer and Git.
- Claude Code.
- For the task board — VS Code (or Antigravity) with the Kanban Markdown extension.
Installation
claude plugin marketplace add IamForma/forma
claude plugin install forma@formaAfter this, call the skill in the project forma: command /forma or simply a request “set up Forma”. It lays the protocol out across the project: rules, node roles and hooks. A repeated call updates the scheme, while the folder project/, the board and accumulated experience are not affected.
A project template is installed separately and optionally, for example: claude plugin install forma-wordpress-novamira@forma.
How to add your own functionality
Your own functionality is packaged as a separate plugin. Core does not change in the process: it carries only the general rules and the general tool.
- Create a plugin directory with the file
.claude-plugin/plugin.json: name, display name, description, version and license. - Put the skills into
skills/<name>/SKILL.md. A skill is a short instruction: when to call it and what to do, without extra prose. - Register the plugin in
.claude-plugin/marketplace.json: name, source path and description. - Add a section about the plugin to the registry of skills and plugins in the manual — in the same pass in which the plugin is registered.
- Check the installation:
claude plugin install <name>@forma.
What to keep in mind
- Everything that travels to other projects must not carry traces of yours: no names, no dates, no domains, no personal data.
- Make the project-specific content — for example, the site snapshot — an empty blank that each project fills in itself.
- A ready-made set for a type of work can be built from project experience as a template — see the category “Project Templates”.
